Fun Friday: Look What Sally Signed Me Up For, FreeMotion QAL, Free Beginner Cross Stitch University at Fat Quarter Shop

Oh Happy Friday.  Even Better, it is Fun Friday and I have so much to share with you today.  I even have more info (all good) about Sally, my Inner Squirrel, as well as some fun free learning opportunities you may want to join in too!  Of course, I'd like to hear what you are doing and I hope you are having a super Fun Friday!

Hard to believe July is almost over.  We don't have much more summer time to enjoy, so I want to encourage everyone to enjoy more watermelon, summer BBQs, watching butterflies, creative time, etc..  After all, summer time is really all about doing things we love.

Sally, my  Inner Squirrel is off traveling and certainly finding time to enjoy.  She is currently in Japan, enjoying watching the Olympics and celebrating World Peace thru sports, including checking out all the beautiful sporting costumes!   Personally, I think she just likes the parties (and male swimmers).

Sally called me long distance to let me know she'd be back home late September.  She also signed me up for a QAL, as she knows I need more time to work on my free motion quilting/ruler work skills (she knows me so well).

Amanda Murphy, is going to host a FREE QAL on the Bernina blog (We All Sew).  It is called the Diamonds 2 QAL and will officially start in November!  You could just sew along with practice quilt sandwiches, make a quilt with fabric from your stash, or buy a kit to make a beautiful quilt.  Sneak Peak of this quilt you can make using fabrics from the kit below:

Amazing colors and quilting, don't you agree?  Amanda will be sharing tips on how to quilt this quilt on a long-arm, sit down mid-arm, as well as a domestic sewing machine!  Again, you could easily participate and learn/improve your FMQ/Ruler work skills by stitching on practice sandwiches.  Or you could make a quilt like the sneak peak shared above, from fabric in your stash, or the cheerful fabrics Amanda is using by purchasing a kit!

Rumor has it that Cozy Creative Center is hosting a Monday Night Live via Facebook on Monday, August 2nd 5pm PST where they will have kits for this QAL (Mint Diamonds 2 kit) and the Every Heart 2 ruler set where you can order, if you like.  And, if the rumor holds true a discount will be offered.  Sally and I both hope you will join this fun QAL too!  Sally will be placing an order for me at Cozy's MNL this coming Monday (and she'll be paying for it out of her own budget of nuts). Oh, don't forget Cozy also gives out prizes to those attending their MNL events on Facebook and there are some awesome prizes this week.

Also, Sally signed me up for "Cross Stitch University" as she convinced me that I need to learn to do cross stitch (fun hand sewing technique which also works well for travelers).

The Fat Quarter Shop has just launched a free program for beginners to learn Cross Stitch appropriately called "Cross Stitch University".  All participants get a free downloadable pattern.  And, every week Kimberly Jolly and friends will be sharing tips and tutorials on Youtube perfect for beginners to learn/improve their cross stitch skills.  And, you there may even be prizes for participants!

Sometimes I get upset with all the great ideas Sally tosses at me, as well as quilting goodies she wants me to buy.  But then I know she really just wants me to have fun being creative!  I'll confess I'm really looking forward to her coming home late September, as I do miss her.

Looks like Sally has lots of fun planned for you ahead! Gertie is already opening the links you provided . . am I ready for a detour? I don't think that there is a choice! LOL We've been enjoying the Olympics too. Keep on stitching!

Sally has you busy for a while. I hope she helps some, too. Have fun!

Sally's reappearance just shows that you can't keep a good squirrel down for long. You'll have plenty to keep you busy and learning when you return home.

Last fall I wanted to join a quilt along, and did the fabric pull, but I needed a new hip and the pain prevented me from getting very far along. Finally late March this year I got my new hip. Then I fell and broke my wrist 4 days later! Same side! I'm slowly getting back to cutting the fabric for this project. Good Physical Therapy is helping. Now I have all the components cut, and ready to make this little quilt! I may even get to sewing this week!
